It was good to be back at the Barbican again, covering St. George’s University of London (SGUL) graduation event… even if it was an absolutely sweltering day, especially inside the venue. A few changes to the organisation of the event meant I could more easily get behind the scenes snaps, such as the students getting into their gowns, or having their portraits taken. This year I stayed a bit longer in my “sweet spot” near the side of the stage, looking out for interesting reactions from graduates after their moment shaking hands with the Principal. A few obliged with waves, salutes and even kisses blown out to the continually applauding crowd. I keep hoping that on one occasion someone will bust out a superhero costume from underneath their gowns or do a cartwheel across the stage!
