As a self-confessed tea addict, there was absolutely no hesitation taking up the offer from Savage World of Food to take photos at their first Grub Club event in Kentish Town… a spring high-tea. It was also a welcome opportunity to revisit the area I briefly lived, and where my interest in photography grew after a long holiday to Turkey. I also held a few exhibitions there at the bustling Mario’s cafe (which you can view inside of on Google Maps) and the wonderfully eccentric salon gallery Flaxon Ptootch. Good times!
Gemma and her friend Amy put a lot of care and effort into their spread, with vintage crockery and cake stands, fresh flowers and menus adapted from postcards of local venues generously donated by the Secret Artist NW5… not forgetting the delicious menu of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes and other treats. Admittedly, one of the bonuses of this type of photography work is you get to try the food too, so I can definitely vouch for the food tasting as good as it looked!
