20/06/2008 "British Summer" was published in the Your Picture of the Day section of today's thelondonpaper. 11/06/2008 I'm involved in another group show at Flaxon Ptootch. This one is dubbed as an Affordable Art Sale and kicks off tomorrow evening with art, food, cocktails, and music galore. It promises to be a great night, and even better if the fabled British Summer turns in an appearance. If you're about, do come along! 09/06/2008 I've added a new collection - booze tube. These photos were taken on the last night of legit boozing on the London Underground, before the alcohol ban came into place. A number of parties were held on the circle line, and this is where the majority of my pictures were taken. I was underground on the last circle line train to leave Liverpool Street Station just before it was flooded with revellers and was eventually closed due to overcrowding. As a result I failed to complete a circuit of the circle line, although I did manage to board two party trains these were eventually broken up by London Transport staff. 04/06/2008 I was commissioned by Time Out Magazine, to photograph the parties on the circle line, taking place on the last night before the alcohol ban on London's public transport. You can read Alexi Duggin's article about the evening online here. I'll be creating a new collection of images from the evening's festivities in the next few days. 28/05/2008 FILE Magazine has published a selection of my Surreal Line images as a featured project. 22/05/2008 I recently completed a commissioned job for St. George’s University of London. The brief was to come up with a selection of pictures they could use as wall art for their new look Registry office. These would then be presented at AO size, laminated, sealed and wrap-mounted onto 10mm foamcore. Four options with six different pictures were presented to the Registry staff to vote on with the winning set installed a few days ago. Photos of the winning arrangement can be viewed on my flickr account here. 28/04/2008 One of my pictures is currently gracing the London Transport Museum website. It's the one titled "Life on Mars"... click here for a look, and here for the reason why. 13/03/2008 My "underworld" show is now being hosted in the gallery space at St. George's Hospital, in Tooting, South London. Check out the current flyer for more details on location. It's a great little venue for promoting the work of local arty folk, and you can view the rest of this year's exhibition program here. 11/03/2008 I've added a new collection - the surreal line. The photos here are those transient encounters where a static poster hoarding seemingly interacts with the world around it. As a number of these photos were already in the underground collection, I've removed them and updated it with some new photos. I'll probably do some more minor tinkering over the next few days so some new photos might be popping up. I tend to use my flickr account as a sort of photo-blog, and update that at least once a week, so if you're looking for new stuff, best to head there. 01/03/2008 I have a photo essay published in the latest issue of travel magazine Everywhere. You can read the essay here or alternatively download the online pdf for Issue 2 here. 29/02/2008 A big thanks to all those came along to the opening of my current show "underworld" at Flaxon Ptootch. It was a great night, laden with cocktails, chatter, a bit of this and a bit of that. My friends' band Of Miracles rounded off a jolly evening by tickling our eardrums giddy with rockin' goodness. Keep an eye on these guys. Anyway, although Flaxon Ptootch has reverted back to it's salon like self, my photos will still be there until March 12th. The owner, Michael, is a laid back fella, and fine with people wandering in off the street to check out the latest bit of art dressing the walls. So if you do check it out, tell him Chutney Bannister sent you! 24/02/2008 I was recently asked to contribute to Londonist's new behind the lens section. Londonist are probably the best London website in the world. Although they're not sponsored by Carlsberg (yet), there's no excuse for any self-respecting Londoner not subscribing to their blog. Do it. Time Out recently named them as one of london's best websites and they've been shortlisted by the 2008 Bloggies under the Best European Weblog category. I was tasked with writing about some of my photos, and how I got into photography. I blamed my Dad for that one. You can read the article here. 13/02/2008 "We Want In" was published in the Showcase section of Time Out London (Feb 13-19). 06/02/2008 "Hatter", was one of five photos selected by guest judges from Tech Crunch, as best representing the theme of Surroundings over on JPG magazine. The result being I've won a pretty nifty new camera phone. So, goodbye N73... hello G800! Many thanks to those who voted and favourited my photo, it's most appreciated. 01/02/2008 "Ground Control to Major Tom", "We Want In" and "Baby Messiah" were published in the latest issue of the online photography magazine f-stop. It's an e-zine, featuring a tasty mix of fine art and documentary photography, so go check it out. 25/01/2008 I'm involved in a group show at Flaxon Ptootch which kicked off yesterday with a private view, and lasts until February 14th. Just to confuse things somewhat, I'm exhibiting under my flickr alter-ego Chutney Bannister. There are some photos of the evening, and the setting up the day before, over on my flickr account. My own show will be on February 28th, so stay tuned for more details... 23/01/2008 "Ground Control to Major Tom" was published in the Showcase section of Time Out London (Jan 23-29). 12/01/2008 I have an exhibition coming up at Flaxon Ptootch in late February, and in something of a two-for-one deal, I'll also be involved in a group show on the 24th January. It's basically a preview of all the arty goodness that Flaxon Ptootch will be hosting for the first half of the year. I'm exhibiting under my alter-ego Chutney Bannister and will have a few prints up along with all the other folk. Come along, or failing that my own show in February (more details to follow). 24/12/2007 "Ground Control to Major Tom" was featured on Flickr blog's "your best shot 2007". 27/11/2007 "We Want In" was photo of the day on Guardian Unlimited's artsblog. 01/11/2007 "Barrier" was added to the FILE magazine collection. 08/10/2007 A selection of my photos have been added to the CITYPULSE website. It's an audio-visual project interpreting the concept of cities in an experimental fashion, via "the feel, noise and identity of the urban structures, their dynamics, people and culture"... I borrowed that bit from their website. You can check out the photography section, along with my pictures here. 01/10/2007 "Some Snaps" has checked into St. George's Hospital, Tooting, and will be up from 1st October - 28th November 2007. 04/08/2007 I'm holding my very first solo exhibition at Frevd café-bar gallery (London). |
